Miles Point, Missouri facts for kids
Miles Point is a small place in Carroll County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It's called an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and maybe a few businesses, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town does. Instead, it's part of the larger county's rules and services.
The Story of Miles Point
Miles Point was started a long time ago, in 1855. A man named Jonathan Miles was the one who planned out the community. He decided where the roads and lots would go. The place was named "Miles Point" after him.
A few years later, in 1858, a post office was opened in Miles Point. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages. The post office stayed open for many years, until 1903. After that, people in Miles Point likely got their mail from a nearby town.
