Millwood is a small, unincorporated community located in Knox County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.
History
The community of Millwood was first planned and settled around the year 1825. A post office, which is where people send and receive mail, was opened in Millwood in 1833. It served the community for many years until it closed in 1907.
There are a couple of ideas about how Millwood got its name. Some people think it was named because there was a mill (a building that grinds grain) and lots of woods nearby when the town was first created. Others believe it was named after a person, Mr. Millwood, who was a friend of the person who founded the community.
