Milton K. Ozaki (born June 14, 1913 – died November 7, 1989) was an American writer of Japanese heritage. He was well-known for writing many exciting detective novels in the middle of the 20th century.
The Life of Milton K. Ozaki
Milton Ozaki was born in Racine, Wisconsin. His father, Jingaro Ozaki, was Japanese, and his mother, Augusta Rathbun, was American. When he was a young child, he lost one of his legs.
Besides being a writer and a journalist, Ozaki also owned a beauty salon called Monsieur Meltoine. This salon was located in the Gold Coast area of Chicago. Milton Ozaki and his wife, Dolores B. Ozaki, lived in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He passed away in Sparks, Nevada.
Writing His Mystery Novels
Milton Ozaki wrote about two dozen popular detective novels. He published these books under his own name and also used the pen name Robert O. Saber. He was one of the first American mystery writers who was of Japanese descent.
His novels often took place in a made-up city called Stillwell, Wisconsin. This city was described as a mid-sized place in southeastern Wisconsin. However, it was actually based very closely on the real city of Kenosha.
