History
How it Started
This ministry began a long time ago, on May 27, 1934. Back then, it was just a small office called the "Office of Labour and Labourers." It was part of the Ministry of Economy.
It became a full government ministry on June 22, 1945. This happened because a special law, called Act of Parliament No. 4763, was passed.
Changes Over Time
In 1983, two ministries joined together. The Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Social Security became one. They formed the Ministry of Labour and Social Security.
Later, in 2018, this ministry joined with the Ministry of Family and Social Policy. But this change did not last long. In 2021, the two ministries separated again. This meant that tasks about labour and social security went back to being handled by their own minister.
