Minturn is a small village located on the southern side of Swan's Island, which is part of Hancock County in the state of Maine, United States. It's an "unincorporated area," meaning it's a community that isn't officially part of a larger town or city, but it still has its own identity. The village is found around 44°8’ North latitude and 68°27’ West longitude.
What is Minturn?
Minturn is a quiet place with a history tied to the sea. Like many coastal communities in Maine, it once relied heavily on fishing. However, over time, changes in the fishing industry and a decrease in the number of people living there have caused the village to become much smaller. Even its local post office was combined with the main Swan's Island post office.
Getting to Swan's Island
Swan's Island, where Minturn is located, is a beautiful island that you can reach by ferry. The State of Maine ferry service provides transportation from Bass Harbor, which is on Mount Desert Island. Mount Desert Island is famous for being home to Acadia National Park, a popular place for nature lovers and adventurers.
