Mirabelle (original title: Mirabell) is a heartwarming children's book. It was written by the famous Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. The story is about a girl named Britta-Kajsa and her biggest wish.

The Story of Mirabelle

Britta-Kajsa really wants a doll. But dolls are quite expensive. Her parents do not have much money to buy one.

One day, Britta-Kajsa is alone at home. Her parents are at work. She meets a very unusual little man. He asks her to open a gate for his carriage. Britta-Kajsa helps him right away.

The little man thanks her. He explains he has no money to give. Instead, he gives her a tiny seed. He tells her to plant it in the garden. Britta-Kajsa does exactly as he says.

Some time later, something amazing happens. A doll actually grows out of the seed! Britta-Kajsa is so excited. She shows the doll to her parents. They are completely amazed and cannot believe their eyes.

Later, Britta-Kajsa takes her new doll to her room. Suddenly, the doll starts to speak! She says her name is Mirabelle. From that day on, Britta-Kajsa and Mirabelle become best friends. They do almost everything together. Britta-Kajsa feels like she has the best doll in the whole world.
