Mirzapur district is a special place in northern India. It is one of the 75 districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The main town and headquarters of this district is Mirzapur. Mirzapur district is also part of the larger Mirzapur division.

Size and Population

Mirzapur district covers an area of 4,521 square kilometers. That's about 1,746 square miles. According to a count done in 2011, about 2,494,533 people live in Mirzapur district.

How Mirzapur District is Organized

Mirzapur district is divided into smaller areas. These smaller areas are called tehsils. There are four main tehsils in the district. They are Mirzapur (sadar), Lalganj, Marihan, and Chunar. Each of these four tehsils is then split into even smaller parts. These smaller parts are called blocks. There are twelve blocks in total across the district.

Places to Visit

This district is well-known for the famous Vindhyavasini temple. This temple is located in a place called Vindhyachal. It is a popular spot for visitors.
