Early Life and Junior Career
Mitchell Moses was born in Ryde, New South Wales, Australia. He is of Lebanese heritage and is the nephew of Benny Elias, another famous rugby league player.
Moses started playing junior football for the Holy Cross Rhinos and the Carlingford Cougars. He was first signed by the Parramatta Eels and played for their Harold Matthews Cup team, which is a junior competition. Later, he was signed by the Wests Tigers.
In 2012, Moses had a great year. He helped the Tigers' S. G. Ball Cup team win the grand final. He was also named the S. G. Ball Cup Player of the Year. That same year, he was chosen to play for the Australian Schoolboys team.
Professional Playing Career
Wests Tigers (2014–2017)
In 2014, Moses made his debut in the NRL for the Wests Tigers. He played his first game against the Penrith Panthers. He scored his first NRL try later that season against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks. He started his career playing at fullback before moving to the halves.
By 2015, Moses was playing regularly in the halves with his teammate Luke Brooks. He became known for his "freestyle" way of playing, which meant he was very creative on the field.
The 2016 season was a breakout year for Moses. He became the team's main playmaker and took on goal-kicking duties. He had an amazing first half in the opening game against the New Zealand Warriors, setting up three tries. At the end of the season, he was named the Tigers' "Player of the Year."
In 2017, Moses began the season with the Tigers but later signed a deal to join the Parramatta Eels. After playing 10 games for the Tigers that year, he was given an early release to move to his new club.
Parramatta Eels (2017–Present)
Moses made his debut for the Parramatta Eels in May 2017. He quickly made an impact, kicking a game-winning field goal against Canterbury in one of his early games. The Eels made it to the finals for the first time since 2009, with Moses playing a key role at halfback.
In 2019, Moses had an outstanding season. He led the competition in try assists and helped Parramatta reach the finals again. In a memorable finals game against Brisbane, he scored two tries and kicked six goals in a huge 58-0 victory. He was named the Dally M Halfback of the Year, an award for the best halfback in the league.
The Eels continued to be a strong team with Moses as their halfback. In 2022, he helped lead them all the way to the 2022 NRL Grand Final. Although they lost to the Penrith Panthers, it was Parramatta's first Grand Final appearance in 13 years.
In 2023, Moses played his 200th NRL game. He also re-signed with the Eels, promising to stay with the club until at least 2026. In 2024, he suffered a foot injury early in the season but made a strong comeback. On 30 January 2025, the Eels announced Moses as their new captain.
Representative Career
Lebanon
Because of his Lebanese heritage, Moses was able to play for the Lebanon. He was chosen as the vice-captain for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. He had an amazing performance against France, scoring a try, kicking goals, and a field goal. For his great play throughout the tournament, he was named in the Team of the Tournament.
New South Wales
Moses has also represented his state, New South Wales, in the famous State of Origin series. He made his debut in 2021.
In the 2024 State of Origin series, he delivered a Man of the Match performance in Game 2 to help the Blues win. He then scored the final try in Game 3, as New South Wales won the series decider in Brisbane. Sadly, he suffered a season-ending injury in the final minutes of that game.
