Mitsuaki Kojima (小島 光顕, Kojima Mitsuaki, born 14 July 1968) is a former Japanese football player. He played as a defender and a midfielder during his career.

Mitsuaki Kojima's Football Journey

Mitsuaki Kojima was born in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, on July 14, 1968. He loved playing football from a young age. After finishing his studies at Tokyo University of Agriculture, he started his professional football career.

Starting His Professional Career

In 1991, Kojima joined a team called Fujitsu. He quickly became an important player for them. He played as a defensive midfielder, helping to protect his team's goal. He was a regular player right from his first season with Fujitsu.

Playing for Sanfrecce Hiroshima

In 1993, Mitsuaki Kojima moved to Sanfrecce Hiroshima. Here, he showed his skills by playing in different positions. He was not only a defensive midfielder but also played as a defender. He was a key player for Sanfrecce Hiroshima. The team had great success during his time there. They finished second in the J1 League in 1994. They also reached the finals of the Emperor's Cup in both 1995 and 1996, finishing as runners-up.

Moving to Avispa Fukuoka

Kojima joined Avispa Fukuoka in 1999. He continued to be a regular player, often playing as a center back. This position is important for defending the goal. Avispa Fukuoka faced a challenge when they moved down to the J2 League at the end of the 2001 season. Even though he played many games in 2002, Kojima decided to retire from professional football at the end of that season. He ended his career to make way for younger players.
