Mitsugu Nomura (野村 貢, Nomura Mitsugu, born November 21, 1956) is a former Japanese football player and manager. He played as a defender and was known for his strong defense. He also represented the Japan national team.

Playing Career

Mitsugu Nomura was born in Muroran, Japan, on November 21, 1956. After finishing university at Sapporo University, he joined a football club called Fujita Industries in 1979.

Club Success

In his first year, 1979, his team won two big championships: the Japan Soccer League and the Emperor's Cup. They won the Japan Soccer League again in 1981. That year, Mitsugu Nomura was chosen as one of the best players in the league, making it into the "Best Eleven" team. He played for Fujita Industries until he retired in 1989. During his time there, he played 150 league games and scored 4 goals.

National Team Appearances

Mitsugu Nomura first played for the Japan national team on June 2, 1981. His first game was against China. After his first game, he played in every match for Japan until July 1982. He played a total of 12 games for Japan before his national team career ended in 1982.

Coaching Career

In 2007, after his playing career, Nomura became a coach. He signed with L.League Division 2 club TEPCO Mareeze. He led the club to win the championship in Division 2. This win helped the team get promoted to Division 1, the top league. He coached the team until the end of the 2008 season.
