Her Family Life

In March 1795, Michelle married Sebastien Andre Tarbé des Sablons. He was a lawyer. They lived in Melun, a town in France. Michelle and Sebastien had two sons, Edmond and Eugene. Both of their sons also became involved in writing and music. Edmond wrote several novels, just like his mother. Both brothers also wrote music reviews for a famous newspaper called Le Figaro.

Michelle Tarbé des Sablons was a very creative person. She wrote many books and composed music. One interesting story about her music is from 1872. The Pall Mall Budget newspaper reported something surprising. They said that a new comic opera, The Chanson de l' Etoile, was actually composed by Mme. Tarbé des Sablons. Even though the music was officially credited to Louis Gérome, it was truly her work. Some of her music was also published in a special section of another newspaper called Le Gaulois. This section was called A Nos Abonnes.
