Meredith Leroy Sanford Jr., known as Mo Sanford, was born on December 24, 1966. He is an American former professional baseball player. He played as a pitcher for three different teams in Major League Baseball (MLB): the Cincinnati Reds, Colorado Rockies, and Minnesota Twins.
Mo Sanford's Baseball Career
Starting with the Reds
Mo Sanford began his professional baseball journey with the Cincinnati Reds. He played five games for them in August 1991. In his very first game, he showed his skill by getting eight strikeouts against the San Diego Padres. After that season, he did not play in the major leagues in 1992.
Joining New Teams
In 1992, Mo Sanford was chosen by the Colorado Rockies in a special event called an "expansion draft." This draft happens when new teams join a league, and they pick players from other teams. Mo was the 62nd player picked. He played 11 games for the Rockies in their very first season, starting six of those games.
After playing a season in the minor leagues, Mo Sanford returned to the major leagues in 1995. He pitched in 11 games for the Minnesota Twins as a relief pitcher.
