Mohamad Ahmad Atwi (Arabic: محمد أحمد عطوي; born 10 January 1987 – died 18 September 2020) was a Lebanese football player. He played as an attacking midfielder, which means he helped both attack and defend.
Atwi started his football journey in 2004 with Olympic Beirut. This club later changed its name to AC Tripoli. In 2006, he moved to Tadamon Sour. Two years later, in 2008, he joined Ansar, where he played for nine seasons. He briefly returned to Tadamon Sour on loan in 2017. His last club was Akhaa Ahli Aley, which he joined in 2018. Mohamad Atwi also played for the Lebanon national team from 2011 to 2014. He even played in a game for the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Sadly, on 21 August 2020, Atwi was badly hurt by a stray bullet. He passed away on 18 September 2020, after almost a month in the hospital.

Mohamad Atwi's Club Career
Mohamad Atwi began his professional football career in 2004. He started with a club called Olympic Beirut in the Lebanese Premier League. The next year, this club became known as AC Tripoli.
Playing for Tadamon Sour and Ansar
In 2006, Atwi moved to Tadamon Sour. He played there for two seasons. After that, in 2008, he joined Ansar, a very successful club that had won the league many times. He stayed with Ansar for nine seasons, which is a long time for a player to be with one team. During his time at Ansar, he was loaned back to Tadamon Sour for one season in 2017.
Final Club: Akhaa Ahli Aley
In 2018, Atwi joined Akhaa Ahli Aley. He played for this club until his death in 2020.
Atwi's International Career
Mohamad Atwi also had the honor of playing for his country. He joined the Lebanon national team.
First Game for Lebanon
His first game for the national team was on 11 June 2013. He came into the game as a substitute in the 67th minute. This match was against Iran and was part of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
What Happened to Mohamad Atwi?
On 21 August 2020, at about 10 AM, Mohamad Atwi was in the Cola area of Beirut, Lebanon. He was attending the funeral of a firefighter who had died in the 2020 Beirut explosion. During this time, he was hit in the head by a stray bullet.
Hospital Care and Passing
Atwi was quickly taken to Makassed General Hospital. He was unconscious and needed a lot of blood because of heavy bleeding. Doctors were able to stop the bleeding. However, they could not remove the bullet because it was in a very sensitive part of his brain. He was placed in intensive care and put into a special sleep called a medically-induced coma.
On 24 August, Atwi's brother, Ali, said that his family wanted to find out who fired the shot. Sadly, on the morning of 18 September 2020, Mohamad Atwi passed away from his injuries.

Team Trophies with Ansar
- Lebanese FA Cup: He won this cup three times: 2009–10, 2011–12, and 2016–17.
- Lebanese Super Cup: He also won this cup in 2012.
Individual Awards
- Lebanese Premier League Best Goal: Atwi was recognized for scoring the best goal in the league twice, in the 2010–11 and 2015–16 seasons.
