Club Career
Mohamed Kourouma has played for several football clubs around the world. He started his journey in Canada and then played in France, Belgium, Guinea, the United States, and back in Canada.
Early Days in Football
Mohamed Kourouma was born in Conakry, Guinea. He later grew up in Montreal, Canada. In 2009, he left his youth team in Canada, Concordia Stingers. He then joined a French team called Red Star 93.
After playing in France for a year, Kourouma moved to Belgium. He joined the reserve team of Gent, a club in the top Belgian league. Later, he returned to Guinea. There, he played for AS Kaloum, a team in Guinea's national league.
Playing for Miami City
In 2016, Kourouma signed with an American team, FC Miami City. This team played in a league called the Premier Development League (PDL). He had a great first season, scoring nine goals in thirteen games.
He returned to Miami City in 2017. That year, he scored eleven goals in another thirteen league games. He also played in two playoff matches.
Time with HFX Wanderers
In the summer of 2018, Kourouma had a two-week trial with Nîmes Olympique. This is a big club in France's top league, Ligue 1. They noticed him while he was playing for Miami City.
In September 2018, Kourouma took part in special tryouts for the Canadian Premier League. He was one of 28 players chosen in Montreal. On April 4, 2019, he officially signed with HFX Wanderers. This team is part of the Canadian Premier League.
He played his first game for Halifax on April 28, 2019. It was the club's very first match. On December 14, 2019, the club announced that Kourouma would not be returning for the next season.
Joining Atlético Ottawa
On August 10, 2020, Kourouma signed with a new team, Atlético Ottawa. This team was just starting in the Canadian Premier League. He played his first game for Ottawa on August 15. In that match, he scored the team's first-ever goal! The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
He played in all seven of Ottawa's games during the short 2020 season. On February 26, 2021, Kourouma left the club.
