Mohamed Sayah (born December 31, 1933 – died March 15, 2018) was an important politician from Tunisia. He worked in the government for many years. He held several big jobs, called "ministerial roles," during the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.

Mohamed Sayah's Political Journey

Mohamed Sayah worked closely with President Habib Bourguiba, who was the first president of Tunisia. Sayah held many different jobs in the government. These jobs are often called "ministries" or "departments." Each one focused on a different part of running the country.

Here are some of the important roles he held:

  • Ministry of Information (November 7, 1969 to June 12, 1970). This ministry helps share news and information with the public.
  • Department of Public Works (October 29, 1971 to June 5, 1973). This department helps build and maintain things like roads and public buildings.
  • Ministry of Youth and Sports (June 5 to November 30, 1973). This ministry works to support young people and promote sports activities.
  • Ministry delegated to the Prime Minister (November 30, 1973 to April 25, 1980). In this role, he helped the Prime Minister with various tasks.
  • Ministry of Housing (April 25, 1980 to November 25, 1983). This ministry focuses on making sure people have places to live.
  • Ministry of Equipment (April 25, 1984 to May 16, 1987). This role is similar to public works, dealing with important national projects.
  • Ministry of Education (May 16 to November 7, 1987). This ministry is in charge of schools and learning for everyone.

Mohamed Sayah was a very trusted friend and helper to President Bourguiba. After a new leader, Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali, came to power, Sayah decided to step back from his political work.

In 2013, he started a group called the Bourguiba Foundation. This group works to remember and honor the life and achievements of President Habib Bourguiba.
