Molamenqing facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Molamenqing is a huge mountain in the Himalayas, a famous mountain range located in Tibet. It stands incredibly tall, reaching about 7,661 metres (25,135 ft) high. Some people even think it might be a bit taller, around 7,703 metres (25,272 ft)! This amazing peak is also known by another name: Phola Gangchen.

Molamenqing is not usually seen as a separate mountain on its own. Instead, it's considered a part of a nearby, even taller mountain called Shishapangma. If Molamenqing were counted as an independent peak, it would be one of the highest mountains in the world. Depending on its exact height, it would rank as either the 37th or 34th highest mountain on Earth.

Reaching the Summit

People have always been fascinated by climbing tall mountains. The first time anyone successfully reached the very top of Molamenqing was in 1981. Two climbers, B. Farmer and R. Price, were the brave adventurers who made it to the summit.
