Mollie Forestier-Walker (1912-1990) was a talented British artist. She was especially known for painting portraits of people.

About Mollie Forestier-Walker

Mollie Forestier-Walker grew up in a beautiful part of England called Devon. From a young age, she loved art. She took private art lessons to learn more about painting and drawing. Later, she went to a special art school. This was the West of England College of Art in the city of Bristol.

Painting a War Hero

During World War II, Mollie Forestier-Walker painted an important picture. In 1944, she painted a portrait of Wing Commander Guy Gibson. He was a brave pilot in the Royal Air Force (RAF). His uniform showed he was a leader.

Sadly, Guy Gibson died later that same year. Because his portrait was so important, the War Artists' Advisory Committee bought it. This committee collected art about the war. Today, you can see Mollie's painting at the Imperial War Museum in London. It helps people remember the war and its heroes.

Exhibitions and Recognition

Mollie Forestier-Walker's art was shown in many places. In 1949, one of her paintings was displayed at the famous Paris Salon. This is a very old and important art show in Paris, France. She even received an "honourable mention" there. This means her work was highly praised.

She also showed her art with several other groups. These included The Pastel Society and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. These groups helped artists share their work with more people.

Mollie Forestier-Walker lived in London for some time. Later in her life, she moved to St Mawes. This is a lovely coastal town in Cornwall, another part of England. She continued her work as an artist until she passed away in 1990.
