Mona Almansouri, 2011

Mona al Mansouri (pronounced Muh-na Al-Man-soo-ree) is a famous fashion designer from the United Arab Emirates. She creates beautiful clothes and is known for her unique designs. Before becoming a fashion designer, she was an engineer! She studied both geology (the study of Earth's rocks and soil) and biology (the study of living things). She even worked as an engineer in the oil industry. In 1991, she decided to follow her passion and became a fashion designer.

• She helped open the Bridal Fashion Show at the Ajman Palace Hotel.
• In 2014, she had a fashion show at The Dubai Mall, a very famous shopping center.
• Also in 2014, she presented a "Snow Queen" themed show at the Sharjah Perfect Wedding event.
• At Dubai Festival City, she showed a special dress with a 3D design of Dubai's famous landmarks. This was to celebrate the UAE National Day and Dubai winning the bid to host Expo 2020.
• In 2013, Mona al Mansouri opened Beirut Fashion Week. Her show took place on what was called "the longest catwalk in the world," stretching over the Mediterranean Sea.
• In 2012, she held a fashion show in Switzerland at the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne. This event celebrated the UAE National Day and the friendship between the UAE and Switzerland.
• She also presented bridal fashion shows in Abu Dhabi in 2010, 2011, and 2012. These shows were supported by Sheikha Sheikha, the wife of Sultan Bin Khalifa.
• Mona al Mansouri was invited to Egypt by the Egypt Lovers Association. She held a fashion show to support the campaign for Bu Tinah Island to become one of the new natural wonders of the world. Her special design for this campaign got a lot of attention from the media.

• In 2010, she was named "Designer of the Year" by the French magazine L'Officiel. This award recognized her as a designer who had a big positive impact on society.
