Monalisa Chinyere Chinda (born September 13, 1974) is a famous Nigerian actress, film producer, and TV personality. She is also known for hosting talk shows and helping people through charity work.

Early Life and Education

Monalisa Chinda was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. Her parents are from the Ikwerre people. She is the oldest of six children in her family.

She went to Army Children's School GRA for primary school. Later, she attended Archdeacon Crowther Memorial Girls' School in Elelenwo. Both schools are in Port Harcourt. Monalisa then studied theatre arts at the University of Port Harcourt.

Career Highlights

Monalisa Chinda started her acting career in 1996 with a movie called Pregnant Virgin. After finishing university in 2000, she acted in Above the Law. Since then, she has been in many films.

Rise to Stardom

In 2007, Monalisa became very popular when she appeared in the TV show Heaven’s Gate. She later became an Executive Producer for the movie Kiss & Tell in 2011. This movie was co-produced with Emem Isong and directed by Desmond Elliot. In 2012, she was one of the first four Nollywood actors to be featured on the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine.

Beyond Acting

In November 2014, Monalisa started her own talk show called "You & I with Monalisa." She also does a lot of charity work to help others. Monalisa writes a column called "Monalisa Code" in The Sun Newspapers. In this column, she shares her thoughts on social issues and relationships. She also works as a consultant with Royal Arts Academy, a school that teaches acting, directing, and screenwriting.

Monalisa Chinda has received several awards for her work:

  • In 2011, she was named the Face of Port Harcourt - Carnival Queen in her home state of Rivers.
  • In 2010, she was nominated for Best Actress in a drama series at the Terracotta TV and Film Awards.
