The community of Monday has a short but interesting history. A post office was first opened in Monday in the year 1880. This post office helped people send and receive mail for many years, staying open until 1914. The name "Monday" for the community came from a nearby stream known as Monday Creek. In 1883, not long after the post office opened, about 400 people lived in Monday.
