A Look Back: Moneta's History
Moneta was officially planned out and marked on a map in 1901. This process is called "platting," and it's how many new towns and communities begin.
The name "Moneta" is quite unique! It's believed to be a poetic way of referring to Anglesey, which is an island off the coast of Wales.
Over the years, the number of people living in Moneta has changed. In 1915, about 87 people called Moneta home. By 1940, the population had slightly decreased to 85 residents.
