Starting as a Magazine
The first Money magazine was printed in October 1972. It was published by a company called Time Inc. For a while, the magazine worked with CNN, a news TV channel, on a website called CNNMoney.com.
Becoming a Website
In 2014, Money launched its own website, Money.com. This was a big step towards becoming a digital-first company. In 2019, Money stopped printing its magazine and focused completely on its website. The last magazine was published in June 2019.
Later in 2019, the Money brand and website were sold to a new company called Money Group, LLC. This company is based in Puerto Rico. In 2023, Money started new yearly lists, like "Best Cars" and "Best Hospitals." These joined their popular lists such as "Best Places to Live" and "Best Colleges."
