Monica R. Richardson is an American newspaper editor. She is a senior vice president at USA Today. Before this, she made history as the first Black executive editor of the Miami Herald newspaper.

Monica Richardson grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. She went to college at Old Dominion University.

Monica's Career in Journalism
Monica Richardson has worked in journalism for almost 30 years. She became the executive editor of the Miami Herald on January 1, 2021.
Before working at the Miami Herald, Monica wrote for several newspapers. These included the Charlottesville Observer, The Florida Times-Union, and Lexington Herald-Leader.
She spent 15 years at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. There, she started as the digital managing editor. In 2018, she was promoted to senior managing editor.
Monica has also been part of important journalist groups. She served on boards for the Atlanta Press Club and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists. She also helped choose winners for the national Pulitzer Prize, which is a very important award for journalism.
In February 2024, Monica Richardson was named a senior vice president at USA Today.
