Monique's Writing Journey
Monique Gray Smith is known for her amazing books. Her young adult novel, Tilly, a Story of Hope and Resilience, won a big award in 2014. This was the Burt Award for First Nations, Métis and Inuit Literature.
Books for Younger Readers
She also wrote a beautiful picture book for younger children. It's called My Heart Fills With Happiness. This book won the Christie Harris Illustrated Children's Literature Prize in 2017.
In 2018, another one of her books was recognized. Speaking Our Truth: A Journey of Reconciliation was a finalist for the TD Canadian Children's Literature Award. This book helps young people understand important history.
