Moorefield is a small, unincorporated community located in Harrison County, in the state of Ohio, USA. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own separate local government like a city or a town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county.
History of Moorefield
Moorefield was officially planned and laid out in 1815. When a place is "platted," it means its streets, lots, and public areas are drawn on a map, setting up how the community will be organized. The name Moorefield comes from one of its founders, a man named Michael Moore. A post office, which helps people send and receive mail, has been open in Moorefield since 1819, showing that it has been a settled place for a long time.
