Moosbierbaum is a small village located in Lower Austria, which is a part of the country of Austria. It belongs to the larger area called the municipality of Atzenbrugg. Even though it's a quiet place now, Moosbierbaum has an interesting history, especially from the time of World War II.
A Look Back: Moosbierbaum's History
Moosbierbaum became important in 1913 when a large factory was built there. This factory, called the Škoda Wetzlar gunpowder factory, made gunpowder and was a part of a bigger company called IG Farben AG.
Moosbierbaum During World War II
During World War II, Moosbierbaum was a very important place for making chemicals. It had a big chemical plant that processed oil to make fuel and other important materials. Because of this, it became a target during the Oil Campaign of World War II. This was a time when Allied forces tried to bomb and destroy places that produced oil and fuel for the German military. The plant in Moosbierbaum was able to process a huge amount of oil, about 60,000 tons each year! It also had a refinery that processed oil from a nearby area called Zistersdorf.
After the war, most of the chemical plant was gone. Today, the only building left from that big factory is the old administration building. This building has been given a new life and now serves as a hotel and restaurant. It's right next to a golf course, so people can stay there and enjoy the area.

Moosbierbaum is also known as the birthplace of a famous singer named Hilde Rössel-Majdan. She was a contralto, which means she had a deep, rich singing voice. She became well-known for her performances.
