Morefield is found in Sverdrup Township. It's about 2 miles (3.2 kilometers) northeast of a town called Crooks. You can find it along an old train track that used to be part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific railway. This old track once connected Renner to Madison.

Morefield is also about 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) north of the Renner/Crooks exit on Interstate 29. It's just a short distance east of the interstate on County Road 133.

A Look at Morefield's Past

Morefield was started a long time ago, in 1902. When it was first founded, it was a busy place for people living in the countryside nearby. It served as a center where people could gather and trade.

The name "Morefield" has an interesting origin. It was chosen by the first settlers, who came from Norway. They named it after a Norwegian word, Meråker. This word means "more field," which likely described the open, farming land around the community.
