Moreland's Interesting Name
Have you ever wondered how places get their names? Moreland has a fun story behind its name!
How Moreland Got Its Name
Before it was called Moreland, this community had a couple of different names. It was known as "Cross Plains" or sometimes "Isbel Creek." The name changed to "Moreland" because of something a stagecoach passenger said. A stagecoach was like an old-fashioned bus that carried people and mail.
The story goes that a passenger on a stagecoach looked around and thought the community needed "more land" to grow. So, the name "Moreland" stuck! It's a unique way for a place to get its name, isn't it?
