A Look Back: The History of Morgan Center

Morgan Center has a short but interesting history, especially when it comes to its name and how people sent mail.

For a while, the name of this community was spelled "Morgan Centre." This was common in older times.

A very important event for the community was the opening of a post office in 1890. A post office is where people send and receive letters and packages. Having one meant that Morgan Center was growing and needed its own mail service.

Just a few years later, in 1893, the spelling of the post office's name officially changed from "Morgan Centre" to "Morgan Center." This is the name we use today.

However, the post office didn't stay open for very long. It closed its doors in 1901. This might have happened because fewer people lived there, or perhaps mail services changed. Even without a post office, Morgan Center continued to be a small community in Ohio.
