History of Morrisville

Morrisville was officially established in the year 1840. It was named after a person named Isaac Morris, who was the original owner of the land where the community was built. When a community is "laid out," it means that streets and plots of land are planned and marked for homes and businesses.

A post office was opened in Morrisville in 1860. Post offices were very important back then because they were the main way people sent and received letters and packages. It was a vital connection to the outside world for the people living in Morrisville. However, the post office eventually closed its doors in 1907.
