Morten Grunwald (born December 9, 1934 – died November 14, 2018) was a famous Danish actor. He was also a talented theatre director and manager. Many people in Denmark knew him for his funny roles in movies.

Early Life and Acting Start
Morten Grunwald was born in Odense, Denmark. He loved acting from a young age. He studied at the Odense Theatrical School in 1958. Later, he went to the Royal Danish Theatre's Theatrical School. He finished his studies there in 1962.
First Steps in Acting
Morten Grunwald began his acting career in 1961. His very first movie was called En blandt mange. This means "One among many" in English. It was the start of a long and successful career.
Becoming a Movie Star
Morten Grunwald became very well-known for his roles in movies. He was especially famous for a popular film series.
The Olsen Gang Films
He played a main character in the Olsen Gang movies. Morten Grunwald played Benny Frandsen. Benny was one of the three main friends in the gang. The other two were Egon Olsen, played by Ove Sprogøe, and Kjeld Jensen, played by Poul Bundgaard. These movies were very popular and made many people laugh.
Working in Theatre Management

From 1971 to 1980, he started and led the Bristol Teatret in Copenhagen. In 1979, he became the manager of the Betty Nansen Theatre. He stayed in this role until 1992. He also helped create the Østre Gasværk Teater. This theatre was built in an old gasometer, which is a large tank for gas.
Retirement and Later Years
Morten Grunwald continued to work for many years. He retired from acting on June 11, 2017. He said that his body was too old to keep working.
His Final Days
In October 2018, Morten Grunwald shared some sad news. He told the Danish media that he had developed thyroid cancer. He passed away about a month later. He died on November 14, 2018, in Hellerup, Denmark, at the age of 83.
