Morteza Haj Seyed Ahmadi (Persian: مرتضی حاجسیداحمدی; 1 November 1924 – 21 December 2014) was a famous Iranian actor, voice actor, singer, and writer. He was known for his amazing performances for almost 50 years.
Morteza Ahmadi was born in 1924 in Tehran, the capital city of Iran. He became one of the most successful people in Iranian cinema. He was also very good at dubbing, which means giving voices to characters in movies and shows. Ahmadi also sang many different kinds of songs. Some of his well-known works include the movies Autobus and Madrak-e Jorm. He passed away on December 21, 2014.
Early Life and Beginnings
Morteza Ahmadi was born on November 1, 1924, in the southern part of Tehran. He grew up in a working-class area. He went to Manouchehri school and later to Roushan and Sharaf high schools.
When he was 16, Ahmadi started playing football. He joined his school's football team. Later, he played for the amateur team of Rah Ahan F.C. until 1944. After that, he worked as a repairman for the Iranian Railways.
A Career in Entertainment
After performing in a few amateur plays, Morteza Ahmadi and his friends started their own theater in 1942. It was called Tamashakhaneye Mah. In the same year, he began a type of storytelling called Pardeh Khani. He also sang a popular song called Golpari Joon.
Soon after, he was invited to work at Radio Tehran. He once sang a song that seemed to criticize a political group. Because of this, he was not allowed to work for six months. However, the highest court later canceled this decision, and he returned to the radio.
After a big event in Iran's history in 1953, Ahmadi moved away from Tehran. He lived in Ahvaz for seven years. When he returned to Tehran, he started acting in a TV series called Tak Mezrab. He also appeared in famous works like Hassan Kachal and Soltan-e Sahebgharan.
Personal Life
Morteza Ahmadi married Zahra Javanshir on July 31, 1955. She was also his colleague at the Iranian Railway. Sadly, Zahra passed away on May 15, 1971, due to cancer.
They had two children together. Their daughter, Azita, was born in 1958. Their son, Maziar, was born in 1961.
Ahmadi was a very dedicated fan of the football club Persepolis F.C.. In 2010, the club honored him as their oldest recognized fan at that time. He loved watching all of Persepolis' home matches at Azadi Stadium. He continued to attend games until 2013, when he became ill. He was often seen wearing a red scarf and sitting in seat number 6 at the stadium.
Passing Away
Morteza Ahmadi died on December 21, 2014, at 11 AM. He passed away at his home in Tehran. His funeral was held a few days later, on December 24. He was buried at Behesht-e Zahra cemetery.
