Moses Paukan was a member of the Yupik people. The Yupik are a group of Native Alaskans who have lived in Alaska for thousands of years.
He later made his home in Saint Mary's, Alaska. There, he was a successful businessman and also worked as a mechanic, fixing machines and vehicles.
