Plot
The story of Moshi Monsters: The Movie takes place in a peaceful place called Monstro City. This city is an island in the middle of the ocean.
The Great Moshling Egg
The film starts with monsters Poppet, Katsuma, and Mr. Snoodle at home. Katsuma is excited about being in a movie by Roary Scrawl. They all head into Monstro City to meet him. Meanwhile, a strange creature called Flumpy escapes through the sewers with another Moshling named Fifi.
In Monstro City, Poppet, Katsuma, and Mr. Snoodle meet Roary Scrawl. He introduces them to Zommer, Furi, Luvli, and Diavlo. Roary wants all of them to star in his new movie. Katsuma, who loves being famous, gets a bit annoyed.
News reports talk about many Moshlings disappearing. They also warn that bad guys, Dr. Strangeglove and Sweet Tooth, are still free. The news then shows Buster Bumblechops, who has a broken leg from his adventures. He talks about a special item called the Great Moshling Egg. This egg is now on display at his museum.
Poppet thinks the egg would be great for the movie. So, they all decide to visit Buster's museum. But Dr. Strangeglove is secretly watching them from the sewers. His helper, Fishlips, is with him. Fifi is put into a machine called the Glumping machine. Dr. Strangeglove and Fishlips then steal the Great Moshling Egg.
Later, the six Moshi Monsters, Blinki, and Roary arrive at the museum. Buster wants to show them the egg, but it's gone! They find a Glump in its place. Dr. Strangeglove left a message using a hologram. He tells them to find three special items by midnight. These items are fried Oobla Doobla, a Blue Jeeper's tears, and Frosted Rainbow Rox. Together, these items will help hatch the egg.
The Quest Begins
The monsters decide to go on an adventure to find these three items. Their goal is to get the egg back and stop Dr. Strangeglove. Their first stop is the Gombala Gombala Jungle. The Oobla Doobla they need is in the Wooly Blue Hoodoo Village. The people there can communicate by whistling.
Poppet and Zommer go one way, while Katsuma and the others get caught. Poppet and Zommer soon find them. The Wooly Blue Hoodoos challenge them to a game of limbo. Poppet doesn't win, but Zommer uses his stretchy body parts to win the game. The monsters successfully get the first item.
Challenges and Discoveries
As they continue their journey, the monsters fall into a trap. They land in an underground candy cave and get stuck in hard candy. It turns out that Sweet Tooth tricked them! While she is distracted, Diavlo melts the candy. Everyone quickly gets into carts and escapes from Sweet Tooth.
Diavlo and Luvli manage to escape, but then they get captured by Dr. Strangeglove. He also kidnaps Zommer. Later, Katsuma, Poppet, Mr. Snoodle, and Furi arrive in Jollywood. They meet a singer named Bobbi SingSong. Poppet spots a Blue Jeeper, which is a rare Moshling that loves music. She tries to catch it.
Katsuma has an accident, which makes the Blue Jeeper laugh and cry. Poppet quickly collects its tears in a bottle. Now Poppet and Katsuma have two of the items. They try to get help finding the last item. But Furi wanders off and is captured. Katsuma, Poppet, and Mr. Snoodle are then teleported to Mount Sillimanjaro. This happens after they get distracted during Bobbi SingSong's performance.
The Final Showdown
Poppet and Katsuma start climbing Mount Sillimanjaro. But they have an argument, and Katsuma shouts. This causes a big avalanche of snow. Before they get buried, Katsuma pulls Poppet and Mr. Snoodle into a cave. The snow covers the entrance. Katsuma feels bad, saying it was all his fault. Poppet cheers him up by singing a song called "We Can Do It." They then manage to find the Frosted Rainbow Rox, the last item.
Katsuma, Poppet, and Mr. Snoodle go to a wooden hut. Dr. Strangeglove is waiting for them there. They fight over the egg, and Strangeglove tries to escape. But Mr. Snoodle attacks him. Dr. Strangeglove asks Mr. Snoodle if he remembers being a good guy. Before Mr. Snoodle can answer, Dr. Strangeglove pushes him out of the hut. Mr. Snoodle falls. Poppet is very sad, and Katsuma and Poppet are captured.
On Strangeglove's ship, the monsters are in a cage. Dr. Strangeglove and Fishlips take the items to the egg. Suddenly, Poppet hears a noise. It's Mr. Snoodle! He survived the fall by whistling. He landed safely in a balloon and flew back to the Moshis. Katsuma doesn't know how to open the lock because he can't whistle. But Mr. Snoodle can! They free all the Moshlings and fight the Glumps. They defeat Dr. Strangeglove.
When they return to Monstro City, the Moshi Monsters bring the Great Moshling Egg back to the museum. It hatches just in time! The creature inside is a Mrs. Snoodle. Katsuma even whistles for the very first time. The movie ends by showing that more rare eggs are waiting to hatch in a temple in the jungle. During the credits, Mr. Snoodle and Mrs. Snoodle do a dance called the Snoodle Doodle. Pictures from after the movie are shown while the song "We Can Do It" plays.
