A Look Back at Mount Holly's Past

Mount Holly has a long history. A post office was opened here in 1853, helping people send and receive mail for many years. It stayed open until 1990. The name "Mount Holly" actually came from a large farm, or plantation, that used to be nearby.

Historic Medway Plantation

One of the most interesting historical spots in Mount Holly is the Medway Plantation. This old house was built around 1694, making it possibly the oldest house still standing in South Carolina! Imagine all the history that has happened there. In the 1800s, a company called the Mount Holly Mining and Manufacturing Company also operated in the area, working with local resources.
