A Bit of History
Before it was called Mount Olive, this community was known by a different name: Goepel.
In 1910, a special railroad line was built to Goepel (which is now Mount Olive). This line was part of the Warren, Johnsville and Saline River Railroad. It helped connect the community to other places. However, this railroad branch to Mount Olive was no longer used by 1985.
