Mount Pleasant is what we call a ghost town in Atchison County, Kansas, United States. A ghost town is a place where people used to live and work, but now almost no one does. It's like a town that has been left behind!
This old town was located about 1.5 miles north of a place called Potter. You could find it along Rawlins Road.
A Look Back: Mount Pleasant's History
Mount Pleasant started as a small community way back in 1854. This was a time when Kansas was still a territory, not yet a state!
People began to settle there, building homes and businesses. For many years, it was a busy little place.
The town even had its own post office! It opened in 1855, helping people send and receive letters. This post office stayed open for a long time, until the year 1900. After that, the town slowly became empty, turning into the ghost town we know today.
