The Mountain View Hotel is a historic hotel located near Centennial, Wyoming. It was built in 1907, which was around the time a railroad line reached Centennial. This was also when a local gold mining boom was slowing down. The hotel was part of a plan to create new businesses that didn't rely on mining.
A Look Inside the Historic Hotel
When it was first built, the Mountain View Hotel had 20 rooms for guests. It also had three bathrooms. Interestingly, these bathrooms were originally in a separate building, which was a stable.
Early Owners and Changes
In 1914, Gustav and Anna Sundby bought the hotel. They ran the hotel for many years, all the way into the 1940s. After they stopped running it, the hotel changed its purpose. In the 1950s, it became an apartment building where people lived.
Bringing the Hotel Back to Life
In the 2000s, the Mountain View Hotel was carefully restored. This means it was fixed up and brought back to its original condition. Today, it is once again a hotel, welcoming visitors.
The hotel was recognized as an important historical place on June 7, 2007. On that date, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This list includes buildings, sites, and objects that are important in American history.
