Mud is a fun and exciting CBBC television drama that first aired in 1994. It tells the story of a group of kids who get a chance to escape their everyday problems. The show stars Russell Tovey, Brooke Kinsella, and Rhona Nolasca as the main children.

In the story, a kind social worker, played by Susie Blake, takes these kids to an outdoor activity centre. This centre is meant to be a place where they can have adventures and forget their worries. But not everyone at the centre is friendly!

The Story of Mud: Series One Adventures

The first series of Mud aired in 1994, with new episodes every week. It had seven exciting episodes in total.

Episode 1: A Tricky Start

The first episode introduces us to three children from London: Bill Bailey (played by Russell Tovey), his sister Ruby (played by Brooke Kinsella), and Alice (played by Rhona Nolasca). Their social worker, Miss Dudderidge, takes them to an outdoor activity centre in the countryside.

However, their arrival isn't welcomed by everyone. Miss Palmer (played by Victoria Wicks), the centre's boss, is very grumpy and mean. There are also other kids staying there who are quite snobby, like Simon (played by Matthew Steer). Ruby sneaks into the centre with her brother, which causes a problem because there isn't enough room for her.

Miss Palmer tries to get rid of the new kids. She makes them stay in tents at a dangerous place called Five Wells Point. This plan goes wrong when the whole group falls into an old well that starts filling with water! Only Ruby is safe. She bravely makes her way back to the centre to get help from the workers: Shane (played by Russell Brand), Philippa (played by Paloma Baeza), and Henry.

On her way, Ruby gets help from a mysterious "Wild Boy" (played by Zoot Lynam). He's a feral child who grew up in the wild after a car crash. Thanks to Ruby and Wild Boy, the group is rescued. As a reward for their bravery, Ruby and her friends are allowed to stay at the centre.

Episode 2: Miss Palmer's Schemes

In the second episode, Miss Palmer is still trying to get rid of Bill, Ruby, Alice, and Miss Dudderidge. She demands a £50 booking fee from Ruby by the end of the day. Miss Palmer even tries to stop the kids from earning the money.

The children work hard, cleaning cars and washing laundry to earn the money. They manage to collect the £50 and proudly give it to Miss Palmer. She is furious that her plans didn't work!

To get her way, Miss Palmer takes Harriet's purse and falsely claims that Bill, Ruby, and Alice stole the money from it to pay the fee. She tries to force the children into a van to send them home. But just in time, Wild Boy breaks into Miss Palmer's office. He finds Harriet's money and purse on Miss Palmer's desk, proving she was lying! This embarrasses Miss Palmer, and she has no choice but to let Bill, Ruby, and Alice stay at the centre.

Series Two

The adventures of Mud continued for a second series, which also had seven episodes.
