History

How it Started (1996–1998)

Mudvayne began in 1996 with its original members. In 1997, they released their very first collection of songs, called an EP (which stands for Extended Play), titled Kill, I Oughta. This helped them get noticed. In 1998, a big record company called Epic Records signed them. This meant Epic Records would help them make and sell their music.

First Album: L.D. 50 (1999–2001)

In 1999, the band started working on their first full album. It was released on August 22, 2000, and was named L.D. 50. This album became very popular! It reached the top spot (No. 1) on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. It also made it to No. 85 on the main Billboard 200 chart. The band even went on a tour called Tattoo to Earth with other bands. Two popular songs from this album are Dig and Death Blooms.

Second Album: The End of All Things to Come (2001–2003)

Mudvayne worked on their second album in 2001. It was released on November 19, 2002. This album was also a big success. It was certified Gold by the RIAA in 2003. This means it sold over 500,000 copies! In 2003, the band joined the Summer Sanitarium Tour. Popular songs from this album include Not Falling and World So Cold.

Third Album: Lost and Found (2004–2006)

The band spent all of 2004 making their third album. It was planned for November 2004 but came out later. It was finally released on April 12, 2005, and was called Lost and Found. This album sold 100,000 copies in its first week! It started at No. 2 on the music charts. Later that year, it also earned a Gold certification from the RIAA. One song from this album, Determined, was even nominated for a Grammy Award in 2006. Other popular songs include Happy?, Forget to Remember, and Fall into Sleep.

Later Albums and Break (2007–2010)

On November 27, 2007, Mudvayne released a collection of their best songs. It was called By the People, for the People. They were also working on a new album that year. This album, titled The New Game, came out on November 18, 2008. It reached No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart. It sold about 48,000 copies in its first week. Songs like Do What You Do, A New Game, and Scarlet Letters are on this album.

In 2008, they started making their last album. It was a self-titled album, meaning it was just called Mudvayne. It was released on December 21, 2009. This album debuted at No. 54 on the Billboard 200. It sold around 34,000 copies in its first week. The song Scream with Me is from this album. After this, the band took a break from making music and performing together.
