Muhammad B. S. Jallow was born in 1960. He is a politician and a public servant from The Gambia. Since February 24, 2023, he has been the Vice President of the Gambia. He took on this important role after the previous Vice President, Badara Joof, passed away.
Early Life and Learning
Muhammad Jallow started his higher education at the Gambia College. He studied to become a teacher. In 1985, he earned his Primary Teacher’s Certificate. A few years later, in 1988, he received his Higher Teacher's Certificate. This helped him begin his career in education.
Working for the Government
Mr. Jallow worked for the Gambian government for many years. He started as a teacher. Over time, he took on different important jobs in the Ministry of Education. He became a Permanent Secretary in several government ministries. This means he was a top administrator, helping to manage different parts of the government.
In August 2019, President Adama Barrow chose him for a very important job. He became the Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service. This role meant he was in charge of all the people who work for the government. He held this position until he retired in May 2020.
Becoming Vice President
In January 2023, the Vice President, Badara Joof, passed away. President Barrow then needed to choose a new Vice President. On February 24, 2023, President Barrow appointed Muhammad B. S. Jallow to this high office. As Vice President, he helps the President lead the country.
