The Vice President of The Gambia is a very important job in the country. It is the second highest political position, right after the President. This role was created in April 1970.
It happened when The Gambia became a republic. This means it became a country led by a president, not a king or queen. The Vice President is chosen by the President. If something happens to the President, the Vice President steps in to take their place.
The current Vice President is Muhammad B. S. Jallow. He started his role on February 24, 2023. He took over after the previous Vice President, Badara Joof, passed away.
