Muhammad Zainul Majdi, born on May 31, 1972, is an Indonesian politician. He is also known as Tuan Guru Bajang. He served as the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara for ten years, from 2008 to 2018. He was officially sworn into office on September 17, 2008, by the Minister of Home Affairs, Mardiyanto.
Leading West Nusa Tenggara
Muhammad Zainul Majdi played a big role in the government of West Nusa Tenggara. As Governor, he was the top leader of the province. He worked to improve the lives of people in the region.
His Time as Governor
He served two terms as Governor. His first term was from 2008 to 2013. During this time, Badrul Munir was his deputy. For his second term, from 2013 to 2018, H. Muhammad Amin served as his deputy. After his ten years in office, Zulkieflimansyah became the next Governor.
Political Journey
Muhammad Zainul Majdi has been part of several political parties. He was with the Crescent Star Party from 2004 to 2013. Then he joined the Democratic Party from 2013 to 2018. After that, he was with the Golkar party from 2018 to 2022. Currently, he is a member of the Perindo party.
The 2024 Election
In the 2024 Indonesian general election, Muhammad Zainul Majdi was a candidate for the Perindo party. He received a lot of votes, 182,024 votes, which was the highest for his party both in West Nusa Tenggara and across the country. However, the Perindo party did not win any seats in the House of Representatives. This was because the party did not get at least 4% of the total votes, only reaching 1.29%.
