Muisne is a lively coastal town located in the southwest part of the Esmeraldas Province in northwestern Ecuador. In 2022, about 5,574 people lived there. It is the main town of the area called Muisne Canton.
Muisne is special because it sits on the northern tip of a small island called Isla de Muisne. This island is inside a beautiful bay known as Ensenada de Mompiche.

Getting Around Muisne
The island of Muisne is separated from the mainland by a water channel. This channel is part of the Muisne River estuary.
Crossing the Channel
To get from the mainland to the island, people mostly use small boats with outboard motors. These boats carry passengers across the water. For cars and small trucks, there are larger boats called barges. They help transport vehicles safely to and from the island.
Fun at the Beach
On the western side of Isla de Muisne, there is a lovely beach. This beach is a popular spot for both local people and tourists from other countries. They come to enjoy the sun, sand, and ocean.
Muisne Canton and Its Villages
The area known as Muisne Canton includes the town of Muisne itself, plus several other smaller villages or parishes. These smaller communities are called parroquias in Ecuador.
