The Mullin Automotive Museum was a special place in Oxnard, California, where amazing old cars were shown. It opened in 2010 and displayed the personal car collection of Peter W. Mullin, a businessman who loved cars. The museum was famous for its many vintage Bugatti cars. Many of these cars were fully fixed up and could even be driven! Sadly, the museum closed on February 10, 2024, after Mr. Mullin passed away.

What Was Inside the Museum?

The Mullin Automotive Museum was known for its incredible collection of classic French cars. It also featured special grand prix race cars. Beyond cars, the museum displayed beautiful Art Deco furniture. Art Deco is a cool design style from the 1920s and 1930s. It uses bold shapes and rich colors. The museum also had modern paintings and sculptures.

The Museum Building

The museum was located in a building that used to be another car museum. This building was about 50,000 square feet in size. An architect named David Randall Hertz redesigned it. He made the building more energy-efficient. This means it used less power. He added solar panels and special reflective roofs. These features helped keep the building cool. The design also kept the Art Deco style. This matched the era of the cars inside, many of which were made in France during the 1920s and 1930s.
