Mumbil is a small town located in the central-east part of New South Wales, Australia. It's about 327 kilometers (around 203 miles) northwest of Sydney, which is the capital city of the state. Mumbil is part of the Dubbo Regional Council area, within the Orana Region.

In 2011, a count of people living in Mumbil and the nearby areas showed a population of 421 residents.

Mumbil's History and Growth

Mumbil saw a big change starting in 1950. This was when construction began on the Burrendong Dam nearby. Many workers moved to Mumbil to help build the dam.

How the Dam Changed Mumbil

Because so many people came to live and work in Mumbil, the town grew a lot. New services became available for the first time. These included electricity, running water, and garbage collection.

The town also built new community places. A public hall was built for gatherings, and a church was added. The local school became bigger to welcome more students. Several new shops also opened, making Mumbil a busier place.
