Munditia anomala is a super tiny sea snail. It is a type of mollusc that lives in the ocean. This little creature belongs to a group of snails called gastropods, and it is part of the Liotiidae family.
What Does It Look Like?
This snail is incredibly small! Its shell is only about 0.45 millimetres tall. To give you an idea, that's less than half a millimetre. The shell's width is about 1 millimetre. Imagine a tiny grain of sand or the head of a pin; this snail is even smaller than that. Because it is so small, it can be hard to spot in the ocean.
Where Does It Live?
Munditia anomala lives in the waters around New Zealand. Specifically, it has been found in Tom Bowling Bay. This bay is located at the very top of the North Island of New Zealand. New Zealand is an island country far away in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. This snail prefers to live in marine environments, which means it lives in the salty ocean water.
