Raymond "Mundo" Earwood (born October 13, 1952 – died April 21, 2014) was an American country music singer and songwriter. His first album, called Mundo Earwood, came out in 1981. His most popular song was "Things I'd Do for You". It became a Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 1978. For a while, he also used the name Mundo Ray for his music.
About Mundo Earwood
Mundo Earwood was born in Del Rio, Texas. After finishing high school in Corpus Christi, he went to San Jacinto Junior College. But soon, he moved to Houston. There, he put together a band and started playing music for audiences.
He released some early songs on a small record label in Houston. His manager then took him to Nashville. This is where he recorded his first big national song, "Behind Blue Eyes". This song was first released on Mundo's own label, Raywood. Later, it was sold to the Royal American label. "Behind Blue Eyes" was a number one hit on Houston radio for eight weeks. It stayed on the Houston charts for six months and also did well on national charts.
His Music Career
After "Behind Blue Eyes", Mundo Earwood released more songs. These included "Let's Hear it for Loneliness", "Lonesome Is a Cowboy", and "I Can Give You Love". In 1978, his song "Things I'd Do For You" became a big hit. It reached number 18 on the Billboard country music chart.
During this time, he also released songs like "Fooled Around and Fell in Love", "Angelene", and "My Heart is Not My Own". Throughout his career, Mundo Earwood had 23 songs appear on the Billboard charts.
Mundo Earwood was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2013. He passed away on April 21, 2014, at the age of 61.
