Henry Murray Fox was born on June 7, 1912. His father was Sir Sidney Fox, who was also important in London's government. Sir Sidney was the Sheriff of the City of London from 1952 to 1953. Henry's mother was Molly Button.

Henry went to two schools for his education. First, he attended Malvern College. After that, he studied at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, which is a part of the famous University of Cambridge.

Career as a Surveyor

After finishing his studies, Henry Murray Fox started his career as a surveyor. A surveyor is a professional who measures land and buildings. They also help people buy, sell, or manage property.

In 1935, he joined a company called Hallett, Fox & White. This company specialized in surveying. Over time, Henry became a senior partner, meaning he was one of the top leaders in the firm. Later, his company joined with another firm called Chesterton & Son.

Public Service in London

Sir Henry Murray Fox was very involved in the government of the City of London. The City of London is the historic heart of London, with its own special government.

Common Council and Alderman

From 1963 to 1982, he was a member of the Court of Common Council. This group helps to run the City of London. He also served as an Alderman for the Bread Street Ward from 1966 to 1982. An Alderman is a senior member of the City's government.

Sheriff and Lord Mayor

Sir Henry held several important roles in the City of London. He was the Sheriff of the City of London from 1971 to 1972. The Sheriff is an ancient and honorable position in the City's government.

Family Life

Sir Henry Murray Fox married Helen Isabella Margaret Crichton. She was the daughter of J. B. Crichton. Together, they had three children: one son and two daughters. Lady Fox, his wife, passed away in 1986. Sir Henry Murray Fox died on November 9, 1999.
