Murray A. Lightburn is a talented Canadian musician and composer. He is best known as the main singer and songwriter for the band The Dears.
Some people have compared his singing style to Morrissey, the former lead singer of The Smiths. This is because both have unique voices and often write songs with a thoughtful, sometimes serious, mood. The Dears even toured with Morrissey in 2006, opening his shows.
Murray Lightburn has also released his own music. His first solo album, Mass: Light, came out in 2013. Later, in 2019, he released his second solo album, Hear Me Out. His album Once Upon a Time in Montreal was considered for the 2023 Polaris Music Prize, which is a big award for Canadian music.
Besides singing and writing songs, Murray is also a composer. This means he creates original music for films and TV shows. He has made music for movies like Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story, I Like Movies, and Too Much Sleep. He also composed music for TV series such as Near or Far and Black Life: Untold Stories. About Murray Lightburn's Life
In 2005, Murray Lightburn married Natalia Yanchak. She is also a musician and plays keyboards and sings in The Dears. They have two children together, named Neptune and Apollo. Outside of music, Murray enjoys film photography as a hobby.
